Bischof + Klein's environmental management system instils confidence with constant progress and also holds its own against the tighter "EMAS III" (third amendment of the "Eco-Management and Audit Scheme") requirements applicable as of this year. This is the result of the "minor" environmental audit which recently took place at B+K's headquarters in Lengerich. One important part of the site inspection was the extension to the valued air scrubbing system, which entered operation in April. B+K's extensive investment activity is particularly impressive, stated Dr. Jörg Schnittger of Deloitte Cert Umweltgutachter GmbH. B+K has continued to invest in modern production systems even in difficult times. "You can see that this company is constantly developing."

The auditor focussed primarily on the seamless documentation of measures and environmental data, which have to meet even more stringent specifications since the amendment of the EMAS system. "The participating companies have to constantly continue developing their environmental management systems to meet the increasingly comprehensive and stringent EMAS requirements", stated Angelika Lütke Lengerich, head of B+K's environmental protection/disposal department. The environmental expert's positive evaluation acts as confirmation for the company, at the same time giving it the incentive to continue setting itself ambitious environmental protection goals. During the "major" EMAS audit to be conducted next year, B+K will have the opportunity to thoroughly show the certified environmental experts the progress made in environmental protection and to reveal its future environmental protection plans at B+K Lengerich and Konzell in the Bavarian Forest.
