Set for further growth
The number of employees in both German plants increased by two per cent, while the number of trainees grew by ten per cent.
The company is investing € 35 m. in 2016 alone in both German plants in Lengerich, NRW and Konzell, Bavaria. The largest individual investment is a new extrusion line in the parent plant in Lengerich for the production of multi-layered composite films for the food and pharmaceutical industries, among others. Modernisation and capacity expansion are also being advanced with new extrusion, printing and conversion lines in the subsidiaries in France, Great Britain, Poland and Saudi Arabia.
B+K’s increase in turnover has remained above the industry average for three consecutive years. All business segments have played a role here. Higher hygiene requirements in industrial food processing lead to a greater demand for synthetic industrial packaging. B+K also continues to grow in the ultra-clean packaging and film solutions segment. Bischof + Klein is especially successful in the sale of highly refined consumer packaging in the food and hygiene sectors and profits from the worldwide trend towards stand-up pouches. The technical films division further expanded its already strong position in qualitatively sophisticated markets such as surface protection for high-gloss furniture in 2015.
Europe will remain the main sales market for the family-run company, which now trades under the new legal structure Bischof + Klein SE & Co. KG since October 2015. Managing Director Dr. Volker Pfennig, „We see the best development opportunities within the entire packaging market in flexible plastic packaging. We are set for further growth.“
