Hygiene and Convenience

16. August 2018

At the FachPack, Bischof + Klein will be presenting its latest packaging developments in response to rising interest in the central topics of hygiene and sustainability.

Bastian Schallenberg, head of sales for stand up pouches and non-food at B+K, explains this focus: "Bischof + Klein enjoys a reputation as a proven partner in the development of sustainable packaging solutions and is in great demand in this regard."

From extruded mono films to complex multi-ply laminates, B+K produces material on reels and converted flexible packaging for a variety of applications. The Twister Plus®, for instance, offers convincing sustainability. With this patented hygiene packaging for tissue products, the film thickness can be reduced to 25 my. The handle on the transverse side and the easy opening function lead to outstanding user friendliness. An additional argument at the POS is the high resolution HD flexographic printing with up to ten colours. This printing process is also increasingly being requested for pet food packaging such as the stable U-Pack® side gusseted bag. Bischof + Klein's machinery also enables this converted packaging to be equipped as required, e.g. with a carrying handle and resealable closure (zipper, slider, etc.). The size can be varied from 0.5 litres to 60 litres. This means that the U-Pack® is also suitable for other pourable products.

The SepaFlex® two-ply, separable PE packaging for products with particular hygiene requirements, such as foodstuffs, pharmaceutical precursor products or special chemical products, is also new. The outer film protects the inner film and product from contamination during transport, handling and storage. Prior to the end use, it can be removed without residues by means of peelable seals that require no aids. In addition to conformity with food law, SepaFlex® offers an extended shelf life and segregated packaging disposal. SepaFlex® is available as an FFS film or converted individual sack with printing for effective promotion.

Stand up pouches are an additional focus of Bischof + Klein's trade fair appearance. Depending on requirement, films manufactured from replenishable raw materials or recycled materials are also used in addition to standard films. Their volume ranges from 50 ml for so-called "squeeze pouches" for fruit pulp up to 15-litre pouches for cleaning materials. Packaging for particularly sensitive products such as baby food is manufactured in separate production facilities. During certification according to BRC, the holistic hygiene and product safety management concept scored the top rating of AA. Bastian Schallenberg: "We afford end user safety top priority."
