Record investments

15. December 2015

During the coming year, Bischof + Klein will invest the record sum of over 43 million euros. 35 million euros will be pumped into the German plants alone.

"Bischof + Klein's good year in 2014 has been followed by a good year in 2015." Dr. Volker Pfennig, member of the management board, is already able to issue this statement. This is quite an achievement following the turbulence on the raw materials market this year. "The virtually simultaneous occurrence of 'technical disturbances' at the production plants of almost all PE granule manufacturers led to significant supply problems at all processors throughout Europe. Prices were inflated at the same time." This has led to a considerable loss of confidence in the granule suppliers.

In contrast to some other companies, however, B+K was able to constantly maintain production. "Once again, the wide diversity of Bischof + Klein's products and markets has proved to be an advantage. The varied product portfolio is in demand by our customers around the globe and offers scope for growth." Bischof + Klein has been able to expand its position as a leading full-service supplier of flexible plastic and plastic laminate packaging and technical films.

During the coming year, Bischof + Klein will invest the record sum of over 43 million euros. 35 million euros will be pumped into the German plants alone. A new extrusion coating line is to be installed at the company's headquarters in Lengerich, for example. The clean room production facility's capacity will be more than doubled with an additional extruder. Amongst other plans, extension of the production facility is scheduled at B+K Konzell to be able to accommodate additional conversion lines. B+K Polska will be receiving a further conversion line for the production of industrial sacks. A new extrusion line is planned at B+K France.

At Bischof + Klein, the central topic of sustainability provides orientation for the company's strategic thrust and day-to-day business. "We are constantly working on ways to reduce raw material consumption and energy input." Further focal points include personnel development and training. The B+K management board member is convinced that the sustainability-based corporate policy will continue to drive the family-owned company forwards.
