"Demand for clean room packaging is growing continually", explains sales manager Georg Blom. Bischof + Klein is one of the few European manufacturers to offer flexible packaging solutions for medical products and pharmaceuticals in this purity class.
The clean room production facility in Lengerich has been extended to cover 2,700 m². The production cells, including a new module with a high-performance automatic punching machine, are connected to a new intermediate warehouse. This machine produces single- and two-ply Tyvek® cover sheets for the disposable syringe industry. The adjacent packaging line enables the bundle's initial protective packaging to be applied fully automatically. The closed-loop clean room chain also includes lines for extruding polyethylene films and for converting sacks and bags as well as a laboratory. The personnel air lock has also been extended. The number of specially trained employees in this area has increased by around 35 percent since the beginning of 2012.
In particular, medical products plus pharmaceutical active substances and excipients demand packaging which is manufactured in a low-germ and low-particle environment. Demand for class 5 clean room packaging is rising accordingly. One example of this is the header bags. Bischof + Klein is the only supplier of this packaging solution for disposable syringes which manufactures the products in an ISO class 5 clean room. Even during production, this serves to protect the individual, high-purity components and enables the product to be sterilised in the bag. Bischof + Klein anticipates a further increase in demand. The closed-loop clean room chain is modular. Space is available for gradual expansion in the future.
