Finds data records which contain the word 'Paper', but classifies data records which also contain the word 'Scissors' higher.

Finds data records which contain the word 'Paper' but not the word 'Scissors'.

+Paper ~Scissors

Finds data records which contain the word 'Paper'. Data records which additionally contain the word 'Scissors' are classified lower than those which do not contain it. This is 'more gentle' than searching for '+Paper –Scissors', in which case a data record is not listed at all if the word 'Scissors' is present.

Paper*

Finds data records which contain words such as 'Paper', 'Papers', 'Paper sauce' or 'Papered'.

"Certain words"

Finds data records which contain the precise phrase "Certain words". This would include e.g. "Certain words and so forth", but not "Certain great words". Note that the " " quotation marks which enclose the phrase are operator characters which serve to separate the phrase. This does not involve quotation marks which encompass the search string itself.
